“Paint Our Temple” On-site Painting/Drawing Contest
On-site Painting/Drawing :
Date: Saturday, September 13, Morning
Check-in: 9:00 AM
Competition Time: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Adults and children are warmly invited to join the “Paint Our Temple” Drawing Contest!
There will be participation prizes (for on-site contest) and cash awards!
Drawing paper will be provided by the organizers. Please bring your own painting and drawing/sketching tools. (Temple has extra sets of drawing/painting tools and materials for those in need. Please inquire at the registration booth)

For those unable to attend the on-site contest, mailed submissions are also accepted. The deadline is October 13. The results of the contest will be announced on October 20.
Requirements for Participants in the Painting / Drawing Contest
I. Basic Painting Tools
- Art supplies: Pencils, charcoal, colored pencils, watercolor, water ink, acrylic paints, etc (no oil painting).
- Paper and materials: 8K paper (27×39 cm) or larger sizes are acceptable; A3 paper (30×42 cm) and 11×17 paper (28×43 cm) are also allowed. Paper thickness is recommended at 100 lbs or more. A drawing board or clip is required to secure the paper. (The paper provided by Lei Tsang Temple for the on-site drawing contest is 17×14 inches (43×36 cm), 110 lb / 180 gsm.)
- Accessories: Water container, palette, cleaning cloth or paper towels, easel.
*** In addition to providing paper, Lei Tsang Temple will also prepare some spare art supplies and drawing boards for participants who do not bring their own.
II. On-site Painting/Drawing Needs
- Chair, small stool, or ground mat.
- Sun protection: Hat, parasol, sunscreen.
- Rain gear: Raincoat or umbrella.
- Drinking water and light snacks.
***Chairs and tables are also available at Lei Tsang Temple.
III. Eligibility
No age limit:
- Children’s Group: under 12 years old
- Teen/Adult Group: 13 years old and above
IV. Theme and Scope of Works
- “My Love for My Guru: Living Buddha Grandmaster Lu”: Draw the most special image or moment of Grandmaster Lu in your heart.
- “Paint Our Founding Temple – Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple”: Draw the part of the Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple that attracts you the most. Find your inspiration at our website gallery here; https://tbsseattle.org/site/gallery
V. Judging Process
- 10/14 (Tue) – 10/18 (Sat): Online voting (40% of the score; professional judges’ evaluation accounts for 60%).
- 10/20 (Mon): Competition results announced on the website.

Notes:
- After completing the registration form, please submit it together with your artwork as an email attachment, mail it to the Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple address, or deliver it in person at the temple.
- Before sending out your artwork, please take photos and keep a copy for your records.
- If you are participating in the “On-site Sketching Contest,” please bring valid identification for check-in on the event day.
- Only original works created by human are accepted; computer-generated, digital, or AI-produced works will not be accepted.
- The original and scanned works will not be returned. The organizer reserves the right to use the submitted works for various event promotions.
- Contestants must comply with the competition rules. The organizer reserves the right of final interpretation of the event.
