Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple Celebrates the Fusion of Buddha and Christ on 2024 Christmas Eve

On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, while most families gathered by their fireplaces to exchange gifts, the grand hall of Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple was filled with laughter and joy, hosting a unique Christmas celebration. This event, blending religious philosophy with festive cheer, attracted hundreds of devotees, family members, and friends, creating an evening filled with warmth and love.
 
The festivities began with a lavish potluck dinner. The temple’s dining area featured long tables laden with an array of dishes brought by attendees, ranging from homestyle Chinese delicacies to classic Christmas feast. As everyone enjoyed the delicious foods, they shared stories and reflections from the past year, immersing themselves in the joyful and heartwarming holiday atmosphere.
 
After dinner, participants moved to the temple's hall for the evening's highlight—a gift exchange under the Christmas tree. Under the humorous and lively hosting of attorney Hui-Fang Zhou, the atmosphere quickly reached a peak of excitement. In the corner of the hall stood a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, its base piled high with numbered gifts, each holding the promise of surprise and delight.
 
A Dharma sister received a special gift from the Grand Madam, her face lighting up with sheer joy.  Moments later, the crowd erupted in awe when a lucky brother drew the special gift—a yellow dragon robe blessed and signed by Grandmaster Lu. The fortunate recipient shared his recent dream of Grandmaster radiating golden light, leaving everyone marveling at the profound connection.  Grandmaster himself joined in the drawing fun, received a gift and reverently offering it to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas by holding it to his forehead, a gesture of gratitude that deeply moved everyone present.
 
The evening reached its climax when Grandmaster took the microphone and spontaneously sang along with the karaoke music. The crowd in the hall raised their hands and swayed to the melody, joining Grandmaster in an emotional sing-along. The energy of the room felt like a spiritual concert, where the power of the music transcended sound and resonated deeply within the hearts of all. This joyous moment of collective harmony filled the participants with gratitude and bliss.
 
In his Dharma talk, Grandmaster seamlessly wove stories of Jesus Christ’s compassion and selfless giving with the Buddhist philosophy of kindness and generosity. He emphasized the shared spirit of love and giving embodied by both Jesus and the Bodhisattvas.
 
This Christmas celebration, with its potluck dinner, gift exchange, and Grandmaster’s blessings of songs, offered attendees a truly unique holiday experience. On this magical Christmas evening, the warmth of Buddhist compassion intertwined with the festive spirit of Christmas, leaving everyone with cherished memories of joy and unity.
