On March 21, 2026, Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple of the True Buddha School respectfully invited the Root Guru, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng (Lu Sheng-Yen), to preside over the annual Spring Grand Ceremony for Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva—Disaster Relief, Blessings, and Deliverance at the Meydenbauer Center. During the ceremony, His Holiness also transmitted and bestowed the Drashi Lhamo Secret Wealth Practice.
Distinguished community leaders and guests from various sectors attended the event, along with numerous devotees from around the world.
President Lai Ching-te presented a calligraphy plaque reading “Blessings to Nurture and Protect the People,” while Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim presented “Universal Compassion and Support.” Premier Cho Jung-tai, legislators, city and county officials, and council representatives also sent congratulatory inscriptions, wishing for the success of the ceremony.
When His Holiness and Shimu Vajra Master Lian Hsiang arrived at the venue, attendees had already gathered with joy and anticipation. As they stepped out of the vehicle, the audience erupted in warm applause, expressing deep reverence and longing. His Holiness responded with a kind smile and waves, creating a heartfelt and uplifting atmosphere.
Upon entering the venue, His Holiness blessed the main altar, memorial tablets, and longevity tablets. He then viewed and blessed the “Living Buddha Lian Sheng Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition” organized by the True Buddha Prajna Treasury. The exhibition, themed “Double Cranes Present Auspiciousness: Longevity and Health,” featured lantern displays of His Holiness’s artworks. Nearly 300 prayer lanterns were illuminated, symbolizing devotees’ sincere prayers for the Guru’s long abiding in the Saha world. The exhibition also displayed His Holiness’s published works and various cultural products.
His Holiness also toured and blessed the registration areas and numerous booths surrounding the venue. The booths displayed a wide variety of Dharma items, attracting large crowds. The lively interactions created a festive, carnival-like atmosphere.
At 2:00 PM, the sound of the ceremonial bell signaled the beginning of the ceremony. All fourfold disciples joined palms and chanted the Padmakumara Heart Mantra in unison to welcome His Holiness into the mandala. Holding the hand of his granddaughter, His Holiness entered the venue, creating a touching moment. Together with the elders and Vajra Masters, he formally opened the ceremony.
Bellevue City Councilmember Jared Nieuwenhuis welcomed the audience, highlighting Bellevue as a diverse and compassionate community. Redmond City Councilmember Menka Soni expressed her honor in attending and emphasized inclusivity and community spirit.
Dr. Lu Foching, President of the Lu Sheng-Yen Charity Foundation, spoke on the organization’s commitment to respecting human dignity and supporting immigrants and refugees through education, healthcare, and development initiatives.
Following the speeches, Abbot Reverend Lian Yin of Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple presented a $200,000 donation to the foundation, encouraging continued acts of compassion and charity.
Four individuals took monastic vows and were ordained with Dharma names: Lian Ding, Lian Tong, Lian Fu, and Lian Qian. His Holiness personally conducted the ordination ceremony, reminding them to uphold their vows and remain true to their original aspiration. Nineteen participants received the Bodhisattva precepts, vowing to uphold them with sincerity. His Holiness also officiated blessings for two newlywed couples, advising them to uphold mutual respect, compassion, and commitment throughout life.
In his Dharma discourse, His Holiness explained that true wealth arises from accumulated merit. Only with great merit can one attain extraordinary prosperity through Drashi Lhamo. He revealed key mantra practices and methods, including directional practice, mantra recitation counts, and ritual procedures.
“If you yourself do not possess merit, how can you attain sudden great wealth? First, you must have your own accumulated merit. And where does this merit come from? It comes from the Great Merit Vajra (Da Fu Jin Gang). Only when you possess great merit can you then, through Drashi Lhamo, obtain extraordinary wealth.
Therefore, the mantra we recite is a combination of the heart mantra of the Great Merit Vajra and the heart mantra of Drashi Lhamo. It is:
‘Om. Guru. Liansheng Siddhi. Hum. Om. Mama. Namo. Tong Tong. Zha Zha. Soha.’
This is the first important key instruction.
The verse of Drashi Lhamo is:
‘In all ten directions, Drashi Lhamo, together with the Eight Classes of Dharma Protectors,
Grant me great merit and fortune, and the highest prize among all.’
Because Drashi Lhamo resides in the North, practitioners should face the north when reciting the mantra.
These two mantras should be recited together:
a minimum of 10,000 times,
100,000 times is considered intermediate,
and 500,000 times is considered superior, or even more.
After completing the mantra recitation, one may then go and purchase lottery tickets.
According to Tantric principles:
wearing blue represents subjugation,
red represents magnetizing (attraction),
white represents pacification,
and yellow represents increase.
Therefore, if a practitioner wishes to increase wealth, one should wear yellow clothing when purchasing lottery tickets.
When going to buy lottery tickets, you should write the Chinese character “中” (zhong) on your right palm, and the Drashi Lhamo seed syllable “糾” (a Tibetan syllable) on your left palm, then blow a breath onto each palm.
The day should be chosen as Friday or Saturday, and the time should be between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
After completing the mantra recitation, on a Friday or Saturday morning between 7:00 and 11:00, wear yellow clothing, write the characters on both palms, hold them together, and go to the place where lottery tickets are sold.
When purchasing the ticket, raise your hands slightly—
the left hand bears “糾,”(a Tibetan syllable)
the right hand bears “中.”
Together, “糾中” sounds like “就中” (to win / to hit the prize).
Do you understand?
By following this method to purchase lottery tickets, one can attain prosperity.”
His Holiness shared that after undergoing surgery earlier in the year and a period of recovery, he sought guidance from the Golden Mother of the Jade Pond, who permitted him to conduct blessings, consultations, and painting, but advised against excessive activity. He expressed gratitude to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Amitabha Buddha, Vajrasattva, and Manjushri for their blessings, as well as to all devotees for their prayers and support.
He further reflected on the impermanent nature of life, emphasizing that fame, wealth, and possessions are ultimately illusory. He encouraged peace and dialogue in the world, expressing his aspiration for harmony and non-violence in accordance with Buddhist principles.
Through his teachings and personal example, His Holiness guided attendees to recognize the dream-like nature of life while maintaining diligence in spiritual practice. The ceremony concluded with the empowerment of the Drashi Lhamo Secret Wealth Practice, leaving all participants filled with Dharma joy. The annual Spring Grand Ceremony concluded successfully and auspiciously.
Seattle Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple expresses its deepest gratitude to the Root Guru, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng, as well as to all Dharma teachers, distinguished guests, devotees, and volunteers for their dedicated support.
