Celebrating Living Buddha Lian Sheng’s Birthday — Seattle Temple Launches Lotus Festival: The Season of Padmakumara

The annual birthday celebration of Living Buddha Lian Sheng was grandly held on June 13 (lunar calendar 5/18). True Buddha disciples from all over the world joyfully gathered at Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple in Seattle to celebrate the birthday of their Root Guru.
This year marks the first launch of the Lotus Festival: Season of Padmakumara organized by the Seattle temple. The celebration centers around three major themes:

1. The birthday of Living Buddha Lian Sheng
2. The 40th anniversary of the Founding Temple (September 14)
3. The Fall Grand Ceremony (held on the last Saturday of lunar July)

The series of events includes birthday festivities, a charity funfair, exhibitions of religious and cultural art, drawing and painting competitions, and the appreciation of lotus beauty.

The Lotus Festival blends cultural arts with Dharma propagation and charitable acts. With deep gratitude, we praise Dharma King Living Buddha Lian Sheng for his compassion and wisdom. Despite the hardships of the human realm, he tirelessly delivers sentient beings, merging the sacred and the mundane, and revealing the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Padmakumara realm.

DANG! DANG! DANG! DANG…
Living Buddha Lian Sheng struck the gong three times, followed by a quick flurry of strikes, officially opening the Lotus Festival: Season of Padmakumara.
Next to him, Master Lianzi accompanied with the drum. The moment was followed by a vibrant street performance by little Baobao, a temple child called by his mother, Lotus Zhenni. He performed a lion dance and played an electric keyboard. The atmosphere was festive and joyful, with crowds gathering enthusiastically to watch.
On his way back to the True Buddha Tantric Quarter, Living Buddha received birthday flowers and heartfelt wishes from disciples along the path.

In celebration of Living Buddha Lian Sheng’s birthday, the two-day Charity Funfair began today. All proceeds from the booths will be donated to charitable causes to help those in poverty and suffering.
At the entrance, there was a service booth where Assistant Lotus Peifen and Lotus Xiaofang kindly assisted visitors, answering questions and helping with token exchanges.
Visitors used funfair tokens with designated point values to participate in various booth activities.

In celebration of Living Buddha Lian Sheng’s birthday and the Season of Padmakumara, a special outdoor exhibition of 31 lotus paintings by the Root Guru was set up beside the lawn of the True Buddha Tantric Quarter. The artworks are rich in Buddhist meaning, drawing visitors to linger and reflect.
One particular painting depicted a blooming lotus under the great sun, titled “Summer’s Refreshment” by the Root Guru. The title was especially fitting for the day, as the previous days had been scorching hot, but today’s temperature dropped to a cool and refreshing 15–20°C, with a pleasant breeze—perfect weather for enjoying the outdoor activities under the tents.

Along the outer walls of Ling Shen Ching Tze Temple, a visual timeline showcases Living Buddha Lian Sheng’s life journey: from childhood, to studying the Dharma, to spreading the teachings, traveling, reclusion, and the present phase of the Great Sun Reappearance.
Living Buddha has raised the grand Dharma banner in this world. His compassionate thunderous Dharma roars have shaken heaven and earth, leading countless beings—including spirits and ghosts—to take refuge, learn Buddhism, and escape the ocean of samsara.

This is an epoch-defining deliverance, extending beyond the human world to the heavens and the underworld. Living Buddha Lian Sheng’s works have spread across the globe, with 305 books published to date. Many people were first drawn to Buddhism through his writings, discovering the truth of cause and effect, the existence of Buddhas, bodhisattvas, spirits, and reincarnation—motivating them to diligently cultivate, ascend to the Buddha realm, and attain realization.
